TITAN Lithium Powers Innovation at the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2025
Earlier this summer, engineering students from Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU) competed in the prestigious Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2025 — and TITAN Lithium was proud to support their electric catamaran with cutting-edge lithium marine battery technology.
As a sponsor, TITAN Lithium supplied four 12V 180Ah lithium batteries that formed the heart of the boat’s 10 kWh power system, enabling clean, high-performance propulsion throughout the event.
A New Generation of Green Marine Engineering
The EcoBoat Project, initiated in Autumn 2024, brought together 30 ambitious DTU students to design and build a lightweight, high-efficiency catamaran powered entirely by electric propulsion. Under the guidance of naval architecture professors, the team developed a modular vessel using:
- Carbon fiber sheet panels
- Plywood skeleton internal structures
- Foam sandwich base plates
- A 6kW e-motor and custom low-voltage system
These components, combined with our advanced lithium marine battery system, allowed the boat to perform at a competitive level with minimal environmental impact.
Strong Results in Monaco
From July 2–5, over 50 international teams competed in four classes in Monaco. Despite being newcomers, DTU’s EcoBoat achieved:
- 5th place in the Endurance Race
- 7th overall out of 20 in their class
- Rookie of the Year Award
All powered by TITAN's robust and efficient 12V 180Ah lithium battery modules — proving that smart, sustainable energy can win on the water.
Reliable Lithium Power That Performs
The 10 kWh system, built from four of our high-performance marine-grade lithium batteries, delivered:
- Consistent voltage and power output across testing and race days
- Lightweight and compact design ideal for marine applications
- Rapid recharge capability and long cycle life
This project proves why TITAN Lithium is trusted for demanding applications in electric boating and other off-grid marine power systems.
What's Next for EcoBoat?
With a successful debut behind them, the DTU team is now setting their sights even higher:
- Weight reduction and foil integration
- New 12–25kW propulsion system
- Transition to a 96V high-voltage system
- Hydrogen fuel cell experimentation
And TITAN Lithium will be there — powering the next wave of innovation with our industry-leading lithium marine batteries.
Final Thoughts
Sustainable marine energy is more than a goal — it’s a movement. TITAN Lithium is proud to support engineers, researchers, and students building the future of electric propulsion and green transport.
Congratulations to the entire DTU EcoBoat team — we can’t wait to see what’s next.
