Two platforms, six ranges, one battery question
Roller Team is an Italian motorhome manufacturer, part of the Trigano Group, and sold in the UK through a network of franchised dealers. The current UK range splits cleanly across two base vehicles, and that split matters when it comes to alternator charging and battery fitment: Ford Transit 2.0 EcoBlue for the Zefiro, Auto-Roller and Kronos; Fiat Ducato for the T-Line, Pegaso and Livingstone.
Both platforms run smart alternators on their current Euro 6 engines, so the charging advice is the same whichever base you have: you need a DC-DC battery-to-battery charger to fill a lithium battery reliably from the engine. What differs between ranges is the payload budget, the locker dimensions and how much battery the lifestyle genuinely needs - which is why we size by range rather than by platform alone.
Every Roller Team leaves the factory with a single 90Ah to 110Ah lead-acid or AGM. That sounds sufficient until you realise you can only safely use around half of it before you start damaging the battery. A TITAN lithium of the same or similar footprint gives you close to 100% usable capacity, charges far faster, and lasts for the life of the motorhome. Sizing a Roller Team by range
A starting point by model group. Factory fit is typically a single 90Ah to 110Ah lead-acid, so even a like-for-like lithium delivers far more usable power because you can use almost all of it.

These are starting points, not fixed rules. The honest figure comes from your own loads, not the range name, so total them in the battery size calculator. Battery locker and tray dimensions vary by model year and specification, so measure your space - including terminal height - before ordering. Where the leisure battery lives in a Roller Team
Battery location varies across the Roller Team range, but the two most common positions are:
- Under a cab seat. Many Roller Team coachbuilts site the leisure battery in a tray under one of the cab seats, most often the passenger side. The low, flat TITAN DIN case is designed for exactly this, keeping the centre of gravity down and clearing the seat frame. On compact Kronos layouts the under-seat space can be tight - it varies by layout, so measure carefully before ordering and include the height to the seat base.
- In a habitation locker or external garage. Zefiro, T-Line and Pegaso layouts often position the battery in a locker on the habitation side or in the underslung garage, where there is room to mount a DC-DC charger and fusing alongside it. This is typically the more straightforward home for a 180Ah or above.
The TITAN case is sealed to IP67, so it handles damp and road dust in an underfloor or locker position without issue. The RJ45 comms ports drop to IP32 while a cable is connected, so keep any plugged port clear of standing water. Locker dimensions and tray sizes vary by model year and specification - measure your battery space, including terminal height, before ordering rather than relying on a brochure figure.
Charging a Roller Team from alternator, solar and mains
A Roller Team charges its leisure battery from three sources: the engine alternator while driving, roof solar through an MPPT, and the mains charger on hook-up. Lithium takes all three faster than the lead-acid or AGM it replaces, so a decent motorway run or a sunny afternoon puts real capacity back rather than a slow overnight trickle.
Both the Ford Transit (Mk8, 2014 onwards) and the Fiat Ducato run variable-voltage smart alternators on their current Euro 6 engines. A smart alternator will not reliably fill a lithium battery on its own. The fix is a DC-DC charger, also called a battery-to-battery charger, wired between the starter battery and the leisure bank. We would fit a Victron Orion every time - it gives the lithium a clean, controlled charge and protects the starter battery from being drawn down. A standard split-charge relay does work and some older Roller Teams already have one, but it is not the most reliable way to charge lithium and some relays cause a backfeed that quietly skims around the top 15% off your usable capacity.
