Brief

A marine customer needed a 24V battery system with self-backup. If the primary bank trips or reports a fault, the secondary must detect it and take the critical load immediately, with nobody on hand to intervene.

Requirements

  1. Automatic failover from the primary to the secondary bank.
  2. A case that fits a specific container.
  3. Detailed real-time data into the customer's Victron-based monitoring.

Engineering response

We designed a custom metal-cased battery sized to the container, with two BMS logic layers running in parallel.

Working with the customer, we wrote a proprietary protocol table so the batteries feed detailed real-time data into their bespoke Victron monitoring stack.

Status

Ongoing. Prototypes have been delivered and are in stress-testing.
